Is is that it cost to much SP and you want easy mode? Is it hard for you to do tank battles? Are you not good at it? Or are you scared to fight people on even terms? Or maybe it simply cost to much money.
AV is very easy to use. Tanks do not have the ability to defend themselves in open regions. A single Forge AV fit can be as cheap as 5,000 ISK. Blip blip blip. I die 4 times taking out one tank (100,000 isk minimalist) and I've still walked away with a massive income spree.
Tanks cannot defend themselves because teams that have NO AV WHATSOEVER complain that tanks are overpowered, hence their guns were balanced downward around that. If you use blasters vs infantry, you must use Proto guns, which cost about 120,000 isk each, on top of the base unit. If your team has 2 AV users that coordinate, you can take out almost all of the vehicles on the map in a minimal amount of time. Tanks are easy to spot, and easier to track. People still complain that they get surprised by tanks that are audible from over 150m out, and are visible at all times from the Orbital map.
Why use a tank, when you know they will be gone in about 2 minutes if you keep it out? NEVER seen a tank last longer than that around the edge of a battlefield unless it can hide in the redline since the new gun "update", not to mention, if they run up the center of a battle, BOOM remote central.
The only time you can actually run a tank, is if you can get it into the enemy line before the AV fits come out. Pop a few guys down, then recall the vehicle.
Unlike dropsuits, EVERYONE pays attention to the tanks on the field, and hence they pay more attention to them when they do see one. If they see an overused dropsuit, nobody cares or takes notice, because "it's just a suit". It's a pscological trickery fest just because of the size, and not whether it actually DOES anything that most of the complaints arise. Just because they "noticed" one in a couple of games they call it spam. Just because they saw one kill about 10 people, they call it overkill. Yet when there are obvious fits, such as the scouts romping about getting 30+ kills, they ignore them, because they're "suits".
